Technique Freaks! Faux Linen

Faux Linen

Directions:
1) Rub a sanding block or sandpaper over a piece of Glossy White card stock, from top to bottom and then side to side.

2) Ink a sponge or sponge dauber, and rub the ink over the sanded surface to create the linen look.

3) Stamp your image.

Tip:

  • You can also stamp a background image on the card stock before sanding.

  • Technique Freaks! Emboss Resist

    Emboss Resist

    Directions:
    1) Stamp and heat emboss your image. Allow image to cool.

    2) Apply ink directly to the paper (over and around the embossed image) using a sponge or brayer.

    3) Wipe the embossed image with a tissue to remove the excess ink.

    Variation: watercolor resist
    1) Once you've embossed an image, scribble around and over the image using a Watercolor Wonder Crayon, and blend using an Aqua Painter. Wipe the color from the embossed image, and allow to dry completely.

    Technique Freaks! Double Slider Card

    Double Slider Card

    Directions:
    1) Punch a divot in the top of your card using the 1-1/4" Circle punch. Punch a vertical slot through the front of the card using the Word Window punch.

    2) Place the back slider inside the card, aligning the top of the slider with the top of the divot.

    3) Put two Stampin' Dimensionals through the slot and adhere to the back slider.

    4) Next, adhere the front slider to the front of the Stampin' Dimensionals.

    5) Cover the slot with your front stamped image using Stampin' Dimensionals, and finish by adhering the card edges together.

    Technique Freaks! Crayon Resist

    Crayon Resist

    Directions:
    1) Stamp your image in Basic Black Classic ink or StazOn ink on Glossy White card stock.

    2) Color areas you want to remain white--or that you want different from your background color--using a Whisper White or other light-colored Watercolor Wonder Crayon.

    3) Use a brayer or sponge daubers to cover the entire surface of the card stock with ink.

    4) Wipe off excess ink with a tissue.

    Tips:

  • Give the ink time to dry before coloring your image with your crayon; otherwise the lines of your image may smudge.
  • After Step 4, you can color over the masked area with Stampin' Write markers or using watercolor tools.

  • Technique Freaks! Baby Wipe Technique

    Baby Wipe Technique

Directions:1) Squeeze a few drops of ink on a baby wipe; the moistened material absorbs the colors and creates a one-of-a-kind ink pad.

    2) Stamp your image.

    3) For another approach, gently swipe the wipe over your card stock to create a multicolored background.

    Technique Freaks! Accordion Folded Flower

    Accordion-folded Flower

Directions:1) Cut card stock or Designer Series paper to 12" x 3/4".

    2) Score strip every 1/4" the entire length of the card stock and accordion fold the score lines.

    3) Adhere ends of card stock together (Sticky Strip works well). Let dry.

    4) Holding the card stock with two hands, twist one edge of the strip into the center as shown to create a flower shape.

    5) Adhere a punched circle to the flower center on one or both sides (Pop-Up Glue Dots work well) to hold shape in place.
    Tip:

  • Experiment with different sizes and score intervals to create the desired shape of your flower.

    November Club Projects...

Love this "double slider" technique!  I followed the tutorial here.    The Winter Frost paper and the Festive Flurry bundle was the perfect compliment to this super cool technique.  The Frosted Finishes embellishments look fabulous in the center!

Daydream Medallions is not a Christmas stamp set, but we sure made it look like one!  I love when I can get multiple occasions out of set!  The sentiment is from Christmas Messages.  The clear mount is on sale until December 2nd!  The embossing folder is called Framed Tulips.  We finished it off with rhinestones and Real Red 1/8" ribbon.

Our final project with a neat and different way to use the Pop 'n Cuts base to make a gift card holder.  We were going to use the photopolymer set called Endless Wishes but it was so popular-it's gone!  And not going to be available anymore!  Yikes!  I switched over to the "Joyful Tidings" sentiment from Christmas Messages but didn't get a picture.  We used Red Glimmer Paper for some sparkle and Season of Style decorator paper.

    Have a great weekend!
